Based in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Jessica Blanton is a commercial litigator with extensive experience representing businesses and individuals in a wide range of disputes.

Before joining Yohanan Law, Jessica practiced at several international law firms, where she handled matters involving commercial litigation, intellectual property, consumer finance, products liability, and class actions. She has represented clients at every stage of the litigation process, from pre-suit strategy and case assessment through pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, trial, and appeal.

  • Successfully represented a nationwide class of immigrants in ICE detention in a class action alleging inadequate medical and mental health care.

  • Secured a nationwide preliminary injunction requiring ICE to identify and review medically high-risk detainees for release during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commercial Litigation

  • Successfully represented art gallery in breach of contract dispute, obtaining summary judgment in client's favor in New York state court.

Consumer Finance 

  • Successfully represented mortgage providers in matters alleging violations of federal and state consumer protection laws, including TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, and RESPA.

Intellectual Property 

  • Successfully represented major pharmaceutical manufacturer in patent infringement action under the Hatch-Waxman Act.

  • Following trial, obtained complete defense verdict on non-infringement, invalidity, and inequitable conduct. Affirmed by the Federal Circuit.

  • Obtained attorneys' fees award against plaintiff.

Products Liability 

  • Represented major pharmaceutical manufacturer in multidistrict litigation arising from voluntary product recall following discovery of a probable carcinogen contaminant.

  • Successfully obtained dismissal of fraudulent misrepresentation and warranty claims on motion to dismiss.

Trusts & Estates

  • Represented high-net-worth trust beneficiaries in multi-jurisdictional fiduciary litigation involving a trust holding several hundred million dollars in assets.

  • Successfully obtained suspension of individual co-trustees and resignation of corporate co-trustee pending full accounting.
